Teenagers Lost When Crossing The Bengkulu Seblat River, Basarnas Down Falls 8 Members
BENGKULU - The Bengkulu Basarnas dispatched eight of its members to search for a teenager with the initials N (22) who drowned in the Seblat River, Suka Medan Village, Marga Sakti Seblat District, North Bengkulu Regency. "We received information that one resident drowned in the Seblat River in North Bengkulu Regency," said Head of Bengkulu Basarnas M. Arafah in Bengkulu City, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, October 4. He said his party had coordinated with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the North Bengkulu Police, and the community to search for victims.
Arafah explained that N was reported missing after being with one of his colleagues about to look for fish in the Seblat River on Monday night, October 3, at around 18.00 WIB. When he wanted to cross the river, the victim and his partner were swept away by the swift current of the river. However, his colleague managed to survive.
He said, as of 00.20 WIB, the local community was still conducting searches and conducting sweeps along the Seblat River to the mouth of the river. Then the North Bengkulu Regency BPBD coordinated with the Putri Hijau Sub-district Head and the Seblat Market Village Head to contact the Bengkulu Basarnas. Until now, the joint team is still searching for victims around the Seblat River. Although in the process of searching for victims, weather conditions do not support the cause of low-intensity rain accompanied by wind with a magnitude of one to 10 knots.
