JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that major cities in Indonesia have the potential to rain with moderate to heavy intensity, Saturday, October 1.Quoting Antara, which launched the www.bmkg.go.id page, the weather situation in the Sumatra region is estimated to be dominant in moderate-intensity rain, including in Medan City and Tanjungpinang. Pekanbaru is expected to rain with light intensity.The Pangkalpinang community is advised to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning, while the southern part of Sumatra is mostly rain and accompanied by lightning including Padang, Jambi, Bengkulu, and Palembang.The Bandar Lampung area is expected to tend to rain with light intensity.The weather situation on the island of Java is estimated to be mostly rainy, such as in Jakarta there is the potential for light rain. Serang, Bandung, and Semarang are estimated to have the potential for moderate-intensity rain.Yogyakarta has the potential for heavy rain. People in Surabaya are advised to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning.Most areas of Bali to Nusa Tenggara are estimated to have the potential for moderate-intensity rain, such as in Denpasar, Mataram, and Kupang.The islands of Kalimantan have the potential for rain accompanied by lightning, especially in the areas of Pontianak, Banjarmasin, and Tanjung Selor.The Palangkaraya and Samarinda areas are estimated to have the potential for light to moderate rain.The islands of Sulawesi, Palu, and Kendari are expected to tend to be cloudy to cloudy, while the Mamuju, Makassar, Gorontalo, and Manado areas are forecasted to rain with light intensity.The weather situation at the eastern tip of Indonesia, such as Ternate, Ambon, and Manokwari areas, is estimated to rain with light intensity. Jayapura is dominantly cloudy.The BMKG detected atmospheric waves disturbances in the islands of Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara which caused cyclonic circulation in the western waters of Sumatra.This situation formed wind confluence along the southern part of Sumatra, parts of Java and Kalimantan, to the Sulawesi region.This increases the potential for rain with a significant intensity, especially in South Sumatra, Java Island, most Kalimantan, and North Sulawesi.
