President Zelensky Takes A Very Hard Response If Russia Annexs Ukraine's Territory
JAKARTA - President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a warning that his party would give a very strong response if Russia annexed four Ukrainian territories following what Kyiv and West said, as fake referendums held by Russia under arms.
A statement issued by President Zelensky's office, after a phone call with the Italian prime minister, did not refer to the ceremony on Friday in which President Vladimir Putin would sign a document declaring Russia's annexation of four Ukrainian territories.
"They (the voices) are worthless and do not change the reality. The integrity of the Ukrainian territory will be restored. And our reaction to the recognition of the results by Russia will be very harsh," President Zelensky stressed, quoted by Reuters on September 30.
It was not immediately clear whether Zelenskiy spoke with Prime Minister Mario Draghi before or after the Kremlin announced plans for Friday's ceremony.
As previously reported, President Vladimir Putin is planned to sign an official document on Friday declaring Russia's annexation of four Ukrainian territories, rushing to seal territorial claims.
The move, one of the legal steps Russia says will lead to the official annexation of 15 percent of Ukraine's territory, asserting President Putin doubled his war against Ukraine, despite a massive military reversal this month.
