Private Doctor Maradona Suspected Of Accidental Murder

JAKARTA - Diego Maradona's personal doctor, Leopoldo Luque, is being investigated by the police on suspicion of "accidental murder" a few days after the football legend died.

About 30 police in Buenos Aires have searched Leopoldo Luque's home and private clinic to confirm possible negligence in Maradona's care after the operation.

Maradona died at the age of 60 of a heart attack at his home while he was being treated after brain surgery in early November.

The investigation was sparked by reports from three of Maradona's daughters, Dalma, Giannina and Jana, regarding the heart treatment their father received at his residence in Tigre, north of Buenos Aires, court sources said.

"Our investigation is ongoing, we are talking with witnesses including members of (Maradona) 's family," said a source close to the investigation as quoted by Antara from the BBC, Monday, November 30.

Luque declined to comment on the allegations. He had uploaded a photo with Maradona on the day the creator of God's Hand Gol left the hospital on November 12, 8 days after the operation to remove a blood clot in Maradona's brain.

Maradona then returned to his home in Tigre for further medical treatment. The Napoli legend was pronounced dead of a heart attack on Wednesday local time and was buried the next day in the cemetery of Jardin de Paz, a suburb of the Argentine capital.
