JAKARTA - Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand revealed the condition of Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been sitting on the team bench more often lately. According to Ferdinand, this situation is clearly not what Ronaldo likes.

The beginning of the 2022/2023 season was indeed going hard for Ronaldo. Because the superstar is no longer a regular starter.

Instead, he warms up the Manchester United bench more often.

In the inaugural match of MU vs Brentford with a 4-0 victory, Ronaldo came down as a starter. However, in the four matches after that, Ronaldo even subscribed to sitting on the bench.

He only returned to the list of starting XI when Manchester United appeared in the Europa League, but at that time his performance was not even optimal.

Ferdinand believes that this performance is related to the mood of the star.

"He (Cristiano Ronaldo) is definitely not happy. For the size of the players who have always appeared at the highest level for years, for sure he is not happy sitting on the bench," Ferdinand was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

"However, he will be professional, he will remain focused, because he knows the opportunity will come," he continued.

Ferdinand also believes that the Portuguese player still has a chance to start again. It's just that Ronaldo still needs time.

"He didn't have pre-season, so I understand why he didn't play, and now Marcus Rashford is scoring goals and continues to make assists," explained Ferdinand.

"Currently the team is going well. MU started this season by ensuring that their team played appropriately, ignoring individuals first. But that opportunity will come again," he said.
