Farm Animal Theft Specialist Group in Batu City Arrested by Police

KOTA BATU - The Batu Resort Police, East Java, arrested three suspects who specialize in the theft of livestock, which is troubling residents.

Batu Police Chief, AKBP Oskar Syamsuddin, said the group of specialists for stealing livestock had different roles when carrying out the theft.

"Each one has a different role when committing the theft", said Oskar, as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 20.

At the time of carrying out the theft, the suspect TN (57) was tasked with taking the resident's goat-type livestock from the cage, while WS (47) monitored the surrounding conditions and TM (57) brought the livestock using a motorized vehicle.

According to him, based on the results of the investigation, the three suspects who are residents of Batu City admitted that the theft was carried out because of economic problems. The three perpetrators do not have permanent jobs.

"From the results of the examination, they admitted that it was due to economic motives because they did not have permanent jobs", he said.

According to the confessions of the suspects, he continued, they had twice stolen livestock in the Batu City area. Before acting, the perpetrator studied the surrounding area to make sure the situation was completely safe.

The evidence that was secured by the police included three Gibas goats or fat-tailed sheep (DEG). In addition, one unit of the two-wheeled vehicle used by the perpetrators was also secured at the time of the theft.

"The victim's loss amounted to Rp. 6 million. They committed theft at two crime scenes and managed to take four goats. However, one of the goats died because it was put in a sack", he said.

The three perpetrators were charged with Article 363 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), which carries a maximum prison sentence of seven years.
