Sunter ITF Will Be Built After Anies Baswedan Lengser

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, said that currently PT Jakpro BUMD is still conducting an assessment with potential investors who have been eyeing the Sunter Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF) development project plan.

Bearing in mind, at the Jakarta Investment Forum (JIF) event on September 1, the construction of waste processing into electrical energy was included in one of the projects offered to potential investors.

"So far, Jakpro is still exploring partners," Asep told reporters, Tuesday, September 20.

Asep said that the partner assessment process for potential new investors would be completed by the end of October. Thus, the construction of the new Sunter ITF will be carried out after the term of office of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan ends.

"The partner process, God willing, will be completed at the end of October, after (the term of office) the Governor (ends). He built it waiting for investors first," he said.

Meanwhile, Jakpro's VP Corporate Secretary, Syachrial, revealed that the tender process for the ITF partnership selection is currently being carried out by Jakpro's subsidiary, PT Jakarta Solusi Lestari.

The plan is for the initial construction of ITF to be carried out in the fourth quarter of this year. "The announcement of the tender winner will be made by PT Jakarta Solusi Lestari in November," said Syachrial.

If it is operational, the Sunter ITF will process 2200 tons of waste per day and reduce 30 percent of Jakarta's waste which is sent to the Bantargebang TPST every day.

The Sunter ITF is designed to destroy and reduce the volume of waste by 80 percent to 90 percent with the Euro 5 emission standard and generate 35 MW/hour electrical energy.

Actually, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan has been groundbreaking the Sunter ITF since 2018, but until now the construction has not been carried out.

In its development, the planning for the construction of the Sunter ITF initially collaborated with a power plant from Finland, Fortum Power Heat and Oy as an investor.

However, over time, Fortum left the Sunter ITF project. Then, the DKI Provincial Government plans to borrow money from the state-owned company PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI). Unfortunately, the DPRD does not allow it. Therefore, DKI is still using investors to carry out its construction.
