Ojol Naik Tariff, What's the Impact?

Despite having gone through a long process of discussion and research, the increase in ojol tariffs is said to have a fairly serious impact in various sectors. Anything?

Compiled from VOI, here are some of the impacts of the increase in ojol tariffs according to experts.

According to Nailul Huda, a researcher from Indef, the increase in Ojol rates triggered an increase in inflation.

This is because the transportation sector is the second highest contributor to inflation after food, beverages, and tobacco.

"Our current inflation is quite high at 4.69 percent (August 2022). The increase in fuel and followed by an increase in transportation can raise inflation much higher. This is what we don't want," he said in a presentation released by the National Polling Institute survey entitled "The Increase in Online Ojek Tariffs in User's Eyes and Drivers" online quoted by VOI from Antara, Sunday, September 11.

Nailul said Indef had calculated that if the increase in ojol tariffs could trigger an increase in inflation by up to two percent, macro would reduce GDP to Rp1.76 trillion and cause national workers' salaries or wages to actually decrease by 0.0094 percent.

The increase in motorcycle taxi rates also has the potential to reduce operating income to increase the number of poor people in the country.

"Reducing operating income by 0.0107 percent, there is a potential decrease in the number of workers by 14 thousand people and there is a potential increase in the number of poor people by 0.14 percent," he said.

Transportation and city planning observer at Trisakti University, Yayat Supriatna, assessed that the increase in online motorcycle taxi tariffs (ojol) which took effect today was predicted to make many ojol users switch to using private motorbikes.

According to Yayat, the main advantage of motorcycles is the use of efficient fuel.

"People will move more to motorbikes, because motorcycles are extraordinary. There are 62 km of new motorbikes for each one liter," he said.

That's the impact of the rising ojol tariff in various sectors. Ojol tariffs increased in line with the increase in oil fuel prices (BBM).
