Residents' Stories To Ganjar Pranowo About Embankments Who Are Successfully Reduce ROB Floods

JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said the work of installing sheet piles on the coast of Pekalongan City had already taken place and was visible. He believes, after the project is complete, the results will be good.

He said he was happy to hear the residents who told him that the project had reduced the impact of tidal flooding.

"Eatnya kita senang melihat masyarakat hari ini 'Lumayan pak sudah tidak kebanjiran lagi'. Karena sheet pile ini memang cukup tinggi," kata Ganjar, Jumat 9 September.

On that occasion, Ganjar also appealed to the contractors, supervision and related agencies to oversee the implementation of the project.

The budget is big, so the results must be good. He also asked for some work to be improved, such as there is still a seepage.

The 700-meter-long sea embankment uses Central Java Provincial Government assistance worth Rp. 12.75 billion.

Ganjar also advised that the government and the community should not only rely on the project in tackling tidal flooding.

There must be other efforts and actions. Such as reduced groundwater extraction. Then especially for the community, they must be able to participate in managing waste.

"Also the participation of the community regarding the waste to be managed. Let the place be good and not slum," he said.
