KUPANG - Regional Secretary of Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Fansi Aldus Suwang said the local government was still focused on dealing with 4,373 children under five who were stunted."The percentage of children under five who experienced stunting in Manggarai Regency decreased by 3.6 percent when compared to conditions in early 2022," said Fansi Aldus Jampang when contacted from Kupang, Antara, Monday, September 5.In August 2022, the Manggarai Regency Government will balance and measure the weight and height of toddlers massively with a total toddler measured by 26,564 children out of a total of 28,024 children under five who are targeted for measurement.In the weighing activity, it was found that 4,373 or 16.6 percent of toddlers were involved in weighing and measuring high and weight was included in the stunting category.According to him, the number of toddlers who experienced stunting has decreased almost in all sub-districts except for West Reok District, where there were still 299 children from the previous 223 children who were stunted.He said the decrease in the number of stunted cases in the area occurred because various intervention efforts were carried out by the local government through convergence activities involving all components of the community, specific nutrition interventions carried out by the Manggarai District Health Office.Meanwhile, the Head of the Manggarai Health Service, Bertolomeus Hermopan, added that convergence activities had been carried out, such as providing additional food (PMT) for pregnant women who lacked chronic energy.
