Beaten Up To Shocked, Sjol From South Sumatra 'Dikerangkeng' The Company In Laos

SUMSEL - An Indonesian Labor (TKI) from Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel) named Reza Pratama was unable to return to the country because he was detained by a company where he worked in Laos.

"My son and his girlfriend Tiara who is also a TKI have been detained by the company that has bought Reza from a dealer's agency from Indonesia since the last four months," said Reza's parents when confirmed at his residence in Rantau Panjang Village, Peninjauan District, OKU Regency, South Sumatra, quoted from Antara, Thursday, September 1.

He revealed that the first time about four months ago Reza said goodbye to working in Dubai with her boyfriend Tiara was based on the recommendation from her boyfriend's friend.

"Then Reza was dispatched, but not to Dubai but to Myanmar. After Myanmar, my son and Tiara were dispatched again to Laos using a large cardboard box," he said.

According to Reza's statement to his parents via cell phone calls that he works in Laos as an operator of fraudulent and fraudulent investments.

Reza was forced to work without being able to see outside his office from 13.00 to 23.00 p.m. local time.

"If you have finished working, go straight to the third floor room and can't communicate with other co-workers. Even if someone is caught violating or their job is inappropriate, they will be beaten and some will be electrocuted," he added.

All efforts have been made by Reza and Tiara to return to Indonesia, starting from contacting the Immigration Office to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Laos to asking for pick-up assistance.

"However, until four months there has been no response. Even the Indonesian Embassy asked for Rp. 150 million for pick-up fees on the grounds that the Indonesian Embassy did not have funds to pick up Reza," he said.

Meanwhile, Ade, an Immigration officer in Palembang, when confirmed separately, confirmed that Reza was detained in Myanmar.

According to Ade, his party has collected data on the licensing administration of the two migrant workers and the results are known that Reza and Tiara have complete documents and nothing has been violated by the person concerned.

"We received a report from Migrant Care that two Indonesian workers were being held in Laos, then we looked for information and it was true that Reza and Tiara were being held in Laos. We have also coordinated with the Indonesian Embassy. For all the completeness of the Reza and Tiara documents, everything is complete," he said.

Responding to this, the Head of the OKU Regency Manpower Service (Disnaker) Helmi Purnomo revealed that his party had coordinated with the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP3MI) of South Sumatra Province to help the return of the local migrant workers who were detained in Laos State.

"We will try our best for OKU residents who are having problems abroad," he said.
