Speaking Of The Development Issues In Jakarta, Anies: Use Of Private Vehicles
JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta highlighted one problem in the development of Jakarta, namely the excessive use of private vehicles.
This is due to governance that is more focused on private vehicle-oriented development. Problems like this, according to Anies, are the root causes of Jakarta's challenges as an urban city.
This was conveyed by Anies in the side event of the 2022 U20 Mayor Summit agenda with the theme "Prosperous and Circular Cities: Investing in Urban Transformation.
"For decades, Jakarta's urban management has used to focus on private vehicle-oriented development. So the impact is the excessive use of private vehicles," said Anies at the Fairmont Hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, August 30.
Therefore, Anies said that the DKI Provincial Government is trying to organize urban management with transit-oriented development (TOD).
In the TOD pattern, the government seeks to familiarize the use of public transportation on a large scale, to reduce congestion and carbon emissions, provide vertical and dense buildings, and integrate.
On the other hand, Anies considered the lack of investment in basic services and the impact on services that were less than excellent.
Currently, Jakarta is developing basic services on a massive scale to improve the quality of life of its people. In fact, new approaches to tackling the problem and turning it into reality are under way.
"We have worked on the main urban development programs in Jakarta, such as JakLingko, JakHabitat, flood mitigation programs, clean water and extensive social security programs. Therefore, as a collaborative city, Jakarta must strengthen partnerships with various stakeholders to ensure sustainable development in Jakarta," he explained.
