BENGKULU - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Geophysics Station has ensured that 10 units of earthquake detection equipment in Bengkulu Province are in good condition and can operate normally.
The certainty of normal earthquake detection equipment after the BMKG Baai Island Climatology Station said there was a potential for an 8.9 magnitude (M) earthquake centered in the Mukomuko Regency area.
"The condition of earthquake detection equipment in Bengkulu Province is in good condition and operating normally," said Head of the BMKG Geophysics Station, Kepahiang Regency, Bengkulu, Litman, when contacted via telephone, Friday, August 26.
He explained that as many as 10 units of earthquake detection equipment were located in the Muara Sahung area, Kaur Regency, Batu Bandung Village, South Bengkulu Regency, at Bengkulu University.
Then, Kepahiang Regency, Enggano Islands, Argamakmur region and Sakti Seblat clan in North Bengkulu Regency. Furthermore, the Muara Aman area of Lebong Regency, Teramang Jaya area and Air Majunto in Mukomuko Regency. Litman appealed to all people of Bengkulu Province to remain vigilant and continue to carry out activities as usual because the potential for an 8.9-magnitude earthquake which also has the potential for a tsunami of up to 15 meters is not something new.
