Head Of The Chamber Of Commerce And Industry Arsjad Rasjid Talks About The Potential Recession Threat And Hopes For The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Arsjad Rasjid spoke about the potential threat of recession and hopes for the 2024 General Election, during the celebration of the 77th Independence Day of Indonesia by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 23 yesterday.

Arsjad said in the event attended by President Joko Widodo that the current Indonesian economy has gradually improved after previously experiencing a slump due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, Arsjad reminded, there is still a threat of recession, energy and food inflation due to the war in Ukraine.

"In the future, we all hope that the country's economic conditions will continue to improve and be resilient in facing future challenges. Although the Indonesian economy has improved, there are still challenges that we must face together, including the risk of a global recession and energy and food inflation due to the Russian War. -Ukraine," said Arsjad Rasjid, as reported by Antara.

In front of the President, Arsjad said that although the Indonesian economy was gradually improving, businessmen were still working hard to anticipate threats that could weaken the Indonesian economy.

According to him, the collaboration between the government and the business world is an inseparable part in realizing a better and more equitable level of welfare for the Indonesian people, so that it becomes a developed country in 2045.

On that occasion, Arsjad also expressed his hope that the upcoming 2024 General Election will become a unifying momentum for the nation, and the process can take place safely and smoothly.

According to him, this is important to maintain national stability, which also affects the nation's economic growth, which has been well maintained.

"We hope that all the 2024 elections will become an arena to unite the nation even more. So that all the leaders of the nation together maintain political stability, before, during and after the democratic party, because indeed we feel stability is the key, rather than keeping the situation going forward, " said Arsjad Rasjid.

Regarding the energy transition program, Arsjad Rasjid explained that the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has implemented the Net Zero Hub Program, which involves Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), so that MSMEs are ready to welcome the government's target of Net Zero Emission by 2060.

Along with the program, Kadin Indonesia also awarded the Sustainability Award as a form of appreciation for environmentally friendly MSMEs.

As for the digitization program for MSME players, Kadin Indonesia said it has a program that encourages MSMEs to be able to advance to class and be included in global supply chains.

Arsjad said that his party is helping local MSMEs, both in big cities and in small cities, to connect with MSMEs abroad, to support the government's target for 30 million MSMEs to enter the digital ecosystem by 2024. Currently, according to him, there have been 19 million MSMEs that have succeeded. into the digital ecosystem.

On the other hand, Arsjad said that the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also continues to support the National Capital relocation (IKN) program and is ready to strengthen the IKN development process.

"We also see that IKN is a symbol of Indonesia's development towards a golden Indonesia in 2045," said Arsjad Rasjid.

On that occasion Arsjad also conveyed to the President that his party had submitted the results of the 2022 Kadin Indonesia Special National Deliberation (Munassus) to the government, through the Head of the Presidential Secretariat.

He hoped that the President would be willing to issue a Presidential Decree concerning Approval of the Articles of Association and Bylaws of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a result of the 2022 Kadin National Conference.
