The Bridge In North Petojo Collapses, Four Residents Who Are Watching The 17's Competition Injured

JAKARTA - Four residents were injured when the bridge at RT 006/RW008, North Petojo Village, Gambir, Central Jakarta, suddenly collapsed.

The bridge is an access for local residents.

The Head of North Petojo Village, Indarto, confirmed that a bridge in his area had collapsed.

The collapse of the bridge was due to not being able to withstand the weight because residents were watching the competition for the 77th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.

"There happened to be a competition there, so people continued to watch from the bridge. Because of that the bridge was already fragile and eventually collapsed, unable to withstand the load," said Indarto when contacted, Sunday, August 21.

Indarto said the collapse of the bridge had an impact on the access road for residents of RT 06.

"There is also another bridge nearby, so residents have to switch to another bridge to access the school road," he said.

Furthermore, Indarto added, the bridge is only used by residents who walk.

It is known, the bridge was built from the results of local residents' self-help.

"It's the bridge that was built, not the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Meanwhile, the broken bridge doesn't know when it can be built again because we have to look for CSR," he said.
