Landslide Up To Three Meters, Padang-Solok National Road Access Completely Paralyzed

JAKARTA - A landslide was reported to have occurred in the Sireview Lauik area, Lubuk Kilangan, Padang city at around 14.00 WIB. A total of four points are located in Lubuak Paraku and Panorama II in the Sireview Lauik area. The height of the landslide material reached three meters so that it could not be passed by vehicles at all.

Access to the national road connecting the city of Padang with Solok, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) until 15.30 WIB is still completely paralyzed.

"As of 15.30 WIB, the traffic flow from Padang to Solok or vice versa is still not passable," said Head of the Lubuk Kilangan Police, Kompol Lija Nesmon, in Padang, Saturday, August 20.

He said that currently heavy equipment had begun to work on the landslide material that covered the road at the location.

The police appealed to people who want to go to Solok or Padang to take an alternative route via Padang Panjang.

The public is also advised to be patient and if possible delay departure for a while so as not to get stuck in traffic at the location.

"Drivers are asked to remain careful considering the weather conditions in a number of areas are still drenched by rain," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

Luckily, no casualties were reported in the landslide. Currently, the police and related agencies are at the location to carry out security and disaster management.
