Jokowi: No More Identity Politics And Politicization Of Religion
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo fully supports preparations for the 2024 Simultaneous Elections to be held by the General Elections Commission (KPU) on February 14, 2024. These include the legislative elections (Pileg) and presidential elections (Pilpres). In the early stages of the election, the KPU stated that as many as 24 political parties were confirmed to have passed the 2024 election administrative verification stage after their registration documents were declared complete. Verification results will be announced on September 14, 2023. Meanwhile, regional elections (Pilkada) will be held on November 27, 2024.
"We must fully support the stages of the general election that is being prepared by the KPU," Jokowi said in his speech at the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 16.
The head of state reminded that the 2024 election would no longer be colored by polarization, as happened in the 2019 election. "I remind you, no more identity politics. No more politicization of religion. No more social polarization. Our democracy must be more mature. National consolidation must be strengthened," said Jokowi.
