Evander Holyfield: I Won't Fight Mike Tyson Again, It's Too Late

JAKARTA - Evander Holyfield doesn't seem willing to face Mike Tyson in an exhibition fight. The former boxer rejected the possibility of facing Tyson in the ring.

There were talks back in 2021 about a potential fight, but negotiations fell through, as the two sides were unable to reach an agreement.

"It's too late," Holyfield told TMZ Sports when asked if the two men could fight again in the near future.

Tyson and Holyfield faced each other twice in 1996 and 1997. The latter was referred to as 'The Bite Fight', as Tyson bit off part of Holyfield's ear and spat it out.

After the referee decided not to stop the fight, Tyson bit his opponent again a few minutes later.

Holyfield's last fight was an exhibition match against Vitor Belfort in September 2021. After that fight, the 59-year-old former boxer revealed that he would not step into the ring again.

Holyfield also spoke about the current state of boxing and the different styles he has observed.

"I see a lot of people doing basic things and they can't make adjustments," Holyfield said in June.

"They won't be there long, even though they might win. To last long you have to make adjustments.

"Amateur boxing was great when Mike Tyson and I showed up.

"You have Lennox Lewis and all these people who have to make adjustments because we all have different styles.

"Who in the world thought Mike Tyson would be able to hit someone bigger.

"He's been able to do things that show that size doesn't make a difference. He beat some of the big guys."
