Official! Robert Rene Alberts Leaves Persib
JAKARTA - Persib Bandung coach Robert Rene Alberts resigned following the decline of Maung Bandung in the first three matches of the Indonesian League 1 2022/2023 season.
Persib Bandung announced the Dutch coach's resignation in an official statement on Wednesday, August 10 afternoon. The club is in the process of finding a replacement for Robert.
"After three seasons of being together, Persib and Robert Alberts decided to end it today, Wednesday 10 August 2022. The Dutch coach has decided to resign from his position as head coach of the Blue Prince," reads a Persib statement.
On the same day, the Commissioner of PT Persib Bermartabat Umuh Muchtar also confirmed Robert's resignation. He conveyed this during a speech in front of the action of thousands of Bobotoh at Graha Persib, Bandung City, West Java.
Persib and Robert agreed not to continue cooperation in the Liga 1 competition this season after the results of the team's evaluation of the first three matches of Liga 1 2022/2023.
Maung Bandung started this season with unsatisfactory results. From the three matches they have played, they have only one point, one draw and two defeats.
"Now Rene (Robert) is no longer at Persib, when the opponent Semarang (PSIS) is no longer with us," said Umuh as quoted by Antara.
Robert took a step back from his post for the good of the club. In addition, he resigned after the action of thousands of Bobotoh at Graha Persib on Wednesday afternoon.
Viking Persib Club said there were around 5,000 people who attended the action. Thousands of Bobotoh took action to convey two demands.
The first demand, namely Robert Alberts must resign from the coach. Then the second demand is that Persib management is required to fix the ticket sales system for Persib matches.
Persib and Robert started working together in the 2019 season. Together with Persib, Robert managed to deliver the best achievements for his team in the 2020 season and the final season 2021/2022 as runner up.
