Perhutani Kediri Reports Timber Theft, Evidence Of 37 Sono Timbers Confiscated

KEDIRI - Perum Perhutani KPH Kediri, East Java, reported a case of wood theft at BKPH Pace RPH Plangkat which was fully disclosed and accompanied by evidence of both wood and a car to transport it to the police.

Deputy Administrator of Perum Perhutani KPH Kediri, Beny Mukti, explained that the case originated from information from the people of Sumbersari Hamlet, Ngepeh Village, Loceret District, Nganjuk Regency who reported that a black and white Isuzu truck with police number AD-8981-DE entered the forest area of plot 86 B RPH Plangkat. "Then a joint operation was carried out with the mobile forest police and the ranks of the BKPH Pace Foreman who received information from the community. Members went to the location and after arriving at the location it turned out that the vehicle was actually there," he said as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 8.

He said the black and white Isuzu truck was loaded with 37 Sono logs, 2.49 m3 of Sono logs. During the operation, the truck driver who knew there was a forest ranger immediately fled, but the members immediately chased after him.

The forest police also had no difficulty in securing the perpetrators, because there were quite a number of personnel deployed. The evidence is also secured for further legal proceedings.

"The truck driver fled, then we held a chase involving the help of the Ngepeh Village community and then they were caught," he said.

Members also carried out further inspections around the location where the logs were transported by the car. There were 18 stumps that were found to have been cut down.

Meanwhile, the truck driver is known to have the initials SU (37), a resident of Pelabuan Village, Plandaan District, Jombang Regency. The case was immediately reported to the Nganjuk Police for further legal proceedings.

His party emphasized that all forms of theft at Perhutani's location will be dealt with and reported to law enforcement officials. For this reason, the community is encouraged to participate in protecting the forest area, even if there are forest rangers. It is also to preserve nature.
