Minibus Car Hit By Argo Cheribon Train In Cirebon, Four Passengers Died

JAKARTA - Public Relations Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daops 3 Cirebon, West Java Suprapto said there had been a traffic accident, a minibus tempered or hit by the Argo Cheribon train at a level crossing without a gate.

"Information there are four people who were declared dead, after the tempered car Argo Cheribon train," said Suprapto, in Cirebon, Saturday night.

Suprapto said the accident occurred on Saturday night at around 20.40 WIB, when his party received a report from the driver regarding the incident.

According to him, the location of the accident was at the crossing without a gate, precisely at Km 202+1, a section of the road between Waruduwur Station to Babakan Station, Cirebon Regency.

He stated that the minibus that hit the train was an Xpander type car with the license plate number G-1197-MG and carried four passengers.

"We have evacuated victims, but the data has not been obtained," he said.

He added that the condition of the car that hit the train was charred after being dragged several meters from the scene.

As a result of the incident, said Suprapto, several trains were delayed. He appealed to every driver who crossed the railroad tracks first to look right and left

"We urge the public to look left to right when crossing a level crossing, to ensure that in both directions there are no trains crossing," he said again as reported by Antara.

According to him, the main means of safety for road users when crossing at level crossings are traffic signs. The presence of bars and gatekeepers is only a security tool.
