The Trial Of The Assault Case That Ensnared Manchester United's Ryan Giggs Has Been Postponed Again Due To The Discovery Of A Deadly Substance In The Courthouse
JAKARTA - The trial regarding the alleged assault case by Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has been postponed again. This follows the discovery of a deadly asbestos substance in the courthouse.
Ryan Giggs was dragged into court on charges of coercion and assault on his ex-girlfriend, Kate Greville. The incident allegedly occurred at their residence located in Worsley, Gtr Manchester, November 1, 2020.
Not only that, Giggs is also facing charges of assault on his sister, Emma. This incident reportedly occurred on the same night.
Giggs' trial was originally held in January, but had to be postponed for seven months due to the pile of cases caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
After seven months, the court proceedings should have been held on Monday, August 1. However, Manchester's high court was forced to close for two weeks.
This happened for further treatment after the discovery of carcinogenic substances in the basement of the building in the 1960s. When routine investigations were carried out to identify this hazardous substance, fortunately so far no asbestos particles have been found in the air.
The court will then reopen once it is declared safe. Although it was initially closed for one week last Friday, the decision was extended for the next two weeks.
A hearing will take place on Thursday at Manchester Magistrates' Court to decide whether the trial can be moved to another court, or it will be postponed again.
