Southeast Maluku Police Name 2 Suspects Of Intergroup Clash

TENGGARA MALUKU - The Southeast Maluku (Malra) Police have named two suspects in a suspected murder case that triggered clashes between groups in two villages in Malra Regency, Maluku.

"Two residents of Ohoiren have been named as suspects, namely Ansharius Rahayaan alias Risto and Kristianus Rahayaan alias Kristo," said Malra Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Frans Duma in Langgur as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 2.

The two suspects are residents of Ohoiren Village, Small West District.

The determination of the suspect was based on Police Report Number : LP/ B / 01 / VII / 2022 / SPKT / Malra Police / Maluku Police, dated July 23 2022, Investigation Order Number : Sp. Fingerprint / 01 / VII / 2022 / Criminal Investigation, July 25 2022, and Letter of Determination Number: S.Tap / 01/ VIII / 2022 / Criminal Investigation, Date August 1, 2022.

Both have also been arrested and detained by the Malra Police on Monday (1/8), Frans said.

"The two suspects were then subjected to Article 338 of the Criminal Code, criminal, Article 170 paragraph (2) Article 351 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1-e of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article (56) to 1-e of the Criminal Code, regarding the case the crime of murder and violence together which resulted in the death of another person," explained Frans.

Frans explained, in addition to the two people who have been designated as suspects, there is one other potential suspect but is still in the process of being investigated.

"In addition, there is one more suspect candidate, but has not been named a suspect, because it is still being investigated regarding the age in question. If you are still a minor, you will also be named a suspect and subject to the underage article," said Frans.

The current condition of the two villages is confirmed to be conducive. However, to anticipate things that are not desirable, until now members of the Malra Police, Brimob and TNI members from the Kodim 1503 Tual have been alerted.

"I also appeal to the people of Malra, especially the two villages, to keep the conditions of Kamtibmas maintained and conducive, and not easily influenced by provocative issues," said Frans.

Previously, the Maluku Police Chief, Inspector General Lotharia Latif, asked the two warring parties to stop the clashes in Kei Kecil Barat Subdistrict, Malra, because the Police ensured that they would carry out the legal process according to the applicable regulations.

"I urge the public to stop the fighting and take a peaceful path. The families of the victims who died have also submitted the case to law enforcement for legal proceedings, and there are perpetrators who have been arrested," said Inspector General Lotharia Latif.

Clashes between groups of residents from Ohoiren and Ohoidertutu villages in Kei Kecil Barat sub-district, Malra district, broke out on 25 July.

The clash between the two residents from two different villages initially occurred on Saturday (23/7), but had subsided. The clashes were the result of the victims of a fight between the youth groups of Ohoidertutu Village and the Ohioren Village group on Saturday (23/7) early in the morning at 02.30 WIT in Somlain Village.

The clashes on Saturday resulted in the death of a resident of Ohoiren, prompting a backlash from Ohoiderturu Village. As a result, dozens of houses in Oihoren Village were damaged and many injured and two parties were involved.
