Suddenly Creates An Instagram Account, Sebastian Vettel Instead Uploads The First Video Announcing Retirement At The End Of The Year

JAKARTA - Formula 1 (F1) driver Sebastian Vettel has officially announced his decision to retire by surprise. The end of the 2022 season was the time Vettel chose to let go of the career that had made his name.

Vettel's decision to announce his retirement was done in a way that is no less surprising. Because, Vettel, who has been known to not have a social media account, suddenly decided to create an account on Instagram.

Even though the account was just created, his followers already exceeded one million accounts in just two hours. Surprisingly, the driver's first upload actually contained a short video to leave F1 at the end of 2022.

"I hereby announce my retirement from F1 at the end of the 2022 season," Vettel said on his Instagram account Thursday night.

Vettel's announcement is clearly very surprising. Moreover, before this there was no indication at all that the driver would retire, he was rumored to be changing teams.

However, in the same post, Vettel also gave the reasons behind his decision to retire. The driver said he was giving priority to his family.

Especially now that Vettel himself already has three children and wants to spend more time with his family.

"Who I am, I am Sebastian (Vettel), a father of three and the husband of an amazing woman," he added.

Despite his shock retirement decision, the German has won four world titles in his career during the 2010-13 season with Red Bull Racing.

Since the beginning of his career in 2007, Vettel has also participated in 290 F1 races and won 53 victories, as well as 122 podiums and 57 pole positions.
