Kapenrem 172/PWY Denies Any Of His Subordinates Were Involved In The Efforts To Escape The Regent Of Central Mamberamo
JAYAPURA - Korem 172 /PWY confirmed that until now there have been no soldiers involved in the case of the escape of the Regent of Central Mamberamo (Mamteng), Papua, RHP. RHP is a suspect in bribery and gratification cases handled by the KPK.
Head of Information for Korem (Kapenrem) 172/PWY Major Inf Dewa Made DJ stated that until now there has been no involvement of TNI members in helping the escape of the Regent of Mamberamo Tengah RHP.
The issue that a TNI member named Corporal Satu Tetek was involved in the case of the escape of the Regent of Mamberamo Tengah RHP has not been proven.
"The Koptu Tetek serves daily at Sentani Airport as a Protocol to Infantry Battalion 756/Wimane Sili and is not an aide attached to the RHP," he said in a statement, Antara, Monday, July 25.
If later it was found that there were criminal acts committed by TNI personnel in the case of the escape of RHP, he said, an investigation would be carried out according to legal procedures in force in the TNI.
It is suspected that the RHP suspect fled to Papua New Guinea (PNG) via a footpath on the RI-PNG border, namely Skouw-Wutung since last Thursday, July 14.
The District Head of Central Mamberamo RHP reportedly brought two backpacks after disembarking around Skouw Market and continuing his journey towards PNG via a trail.
