Despite Using Zebra Cross, PPP Legislators Disagree With Police Disbanding Citayam Fashion Week
JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR also highlighted the phenomenon of Citayam Fashion Week (CFW) which was held in Sudirman, Jakarta.
Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Arsul Sani, assessed that the activity did not need to be forcibly disbanded by the police. However, it is enough to use a persuasive approach if it is considered to have interfered with the public interest.
"I don't think CFW should be banned, what is needed is a persuasive-humanist approach to youth and community members who are experiencing CFW fever," said Arsul to VOI, Monday, July 25.
The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR said the persuasive approach was more of an appeal for orderly activities. For example, maintaining cleanliness and not crowding and making noise.
"The related approach is so that their activities are in an orderly manner, not neglecting the prokes and sticking to the rules governing people gathering, such as the time for disbanding, cleanliness and others," he said.
Arsul admitted that the Citayam Fashion Week activity violated the Traffic and Road Transportation Law because it was held at Zebra Cross. However, according to him, the activity cannot be seen from a legal perspective, but must also be viewed from a sociological perspective. That, society also needs a space of expression.
"From a juridical perspective, of course, the opinion that says it violates the law, in this case the Road Law and Traffic Law, is true. But in my opinion, we also don't just look at CFW only from a legal perspective. We need to be wiser by looking at it. a sociological perspective on the need for a space for expression. So this needs to be mitigated between the law and the sociological side," explained Arsul.
According to the PPP Deputy, Citayam Fashion Week, which started with teenagers who are members of 'SCBD' alias Sudirman, Citayam, Bojong Gede and Depok, is a positive thing. Because the ABG can channel creativity and expression that still has a positive impact.
Arsul even considered that CFW's actions were more able to unite people from various circles than political actions.
"CFW is actually a positive articulation of expression, because they carry out activities that are more social in nature and can be a means of uniting the community than those who express certain political attitudes, for example," said Arsul.
It is known, Citayem Fashion Week (CFW) is an event for teenagers from the Citayam, Bojong Gede, and Depok areas to show off their fashion styles in the Sudirman area, Central Jakarta. The zebra cross in the area is used as a catwalk for teenagers.
However, the actions of these teenagers often cause traffic jams in the area, because it is not uncommon for ABGs to gather and watch this CFW spill out onto the streets. It is often seen that motorcyclists and cars have to queue to pass the zebra crossing in the area.
