Deputy Minister Of Finance Suahasil Reminds STAN Students To Become Inclusive Financial Leaders
JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Finance (Wamenkeu) Suhasil Nazara reminded students of the State Finance Polytechnic (PKN) STAN to become inclusive financial leaders in the public sector.
"When you become a leader, you have to start thinking about synergizing and being inclusive because it is impossible for other people to be exactly like you, so you have to be able to listen to others," he said in the Public Sector Inclusive Leadership Public Lecture at the PKN STAN Campus which was witnessed online, reported by Antara, Monday July 25.
The Deputy Minister of Finance explained that there are three types of leaders. First, the traditional type which has an autocratic nature with absolute power in oneself and tends to not care about the opinions of others. Second, there is a transactional type, and third, a transformational type that prioritizes participation, democracy, and situational.
PKN STAN students who are the official education of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) have the task of managing state finances who must serve the public.
The Ministry of Finance, he continued, has the principles of synergy, integrity, professionalism, and service towards perfection. Therefore, the Vice Minister of Finance asked PKN STAN students to instill the principles of financial leaders who serve the public.
"If you become a student of PKN STAN then you have no intention of serving and instead think who can serve me, your own leadership is wrong," he said.
The Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil also reminded PKN STAN students to become inclusive state financial managers and not focus on one field, such as the Directorate General of Taxes.
He reminded that the dimensions of state financial management are very diverse. In fact, he and the Minister of Finance took the decision to rotate officials at the Echelon I level. It aims to find leadership who is always looking for new breakthroughs and the Ministry of Finance will make tour of duty a habit.
Quoting the statement of the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil emphasized that every employee of the Ministry of Finance is a role model and every leader is a human resource manager.
"We have all the tools (performance development and HR management) ranging from awards, performance management, code of ethics, discipline, competence and so on, but the essence is in each of us," said the Deputy Minister of Finance.
