Police Suggest Citayam Fashion Week During Car Free Day

JAKARTA - The police suggested that the Citayam Fashion Week (CFW) in the Dukuh Atas area be held on a car free day (CFD) or weekend. The goal, so that the activities of the community around the location is not disturbed.

"For example, it was carried out on a car free day, which means that there were no passing vehicles," said the Traffic Director of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Latif Usman, when confirmed, Monday, July 25.

This suggestion is because CFW is carried out at a zebra crossing. Thus, potentially disrupting the flow of traffic.

Moreover, the activity of the people of Jakarta at certain times is quite high.

However, Latif emphasized not prohibiting the activities of these young people. As long as you stick to the rules.

So, road users or vehicles can co-exist with the children holding the CFW.

"In the sense that people's activities may use the road as long as they don't use other road users. We will not turn off the creativity of the community as long as it doesn't disturb us, we will take care of it," he said.

Previously, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria admitted that he wanted to move the Citayam Fashion Week (CFW) activity from the Dukuh Atas zebra crossing to another location.

Riza views that currently the event to look stylish at the pedestrian crossing in the Sudirman area, Central Jakarta is not appropriate because of the large number of people who participate.

"Because everyone was very enthusiastic, people wanted to know, then the numbers exploded. Because the numbers were booming, what happened? So many people parked on sidewalks, bicycle lanes. Then, people couldn't walk, it was closed," said Riza

Riza said that there are several locations that SCBD teenagers (Sudirman, Citayam, Bojonggede, Depok) can use to hold a CFW. Among them are the National Monument (Monas) and the Banteng Field Park.
