TARAKAN - The speedboat SB Minsen caught fire after half an hour departing from SDF Port in Tarakan, North Kalimantan, Monday, July 25, at around 09.15 WITA.
The head of the Tarakan Police Polair Unit, Superintendent of Police Satu Jamzani, said the police could not confirm the cause of the fire. He asked to wait for police investigation.
The ship heading for Tarakan-Tana Tidung Regency caught fire in the vicinity of Tanjung Pas Payau near Juwata, Tarakan.
In the video circulating, passengers can be seen managing to escape near the muddy mangrove trees waiting for help to arrive.
Head of the North Kalimantan Transportation Service, Ahmad Haerani, said that the Minsen SB has a capacity of 21 passengers.
"All passengers are safe, there are no casualties. Currently, they are currently being evacuated," said Haerani in Antara.
