National Children's Day 2022: Surabaya Wins Major Award For Child Friendly City
JAKARTA - The City of Surabaya won the Child Friendly City (KLA) award in the main category from the Indonesian Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) on the commemoration of National Children's Day (HAN) 2022.
"What must be underlined is that it is not an award that is held, it is not a worthy child that is expected, without that title we continue to strive to make this city comfortable and safe for children and women," said Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi in Surabaya, Saturday.
According to Eri, actually the KLA award given by the PPPA Ministry in Jakarta, on Friday (22/7), does not mean anything if Surabaya is supported by stakeholders, such as universities to make this city suitable for children and women.
For this reason, he said, so that the city is feasible, safe and comfortable for children and women, the city government collaborates with universities to provide mentoring and learning services for children and women in every RW hall. With these service places in every RW hall, children will feel comfortable.
"Just like in Bubutan District, there are traditional games, lessons and art activities. That's every Friday and Saturday night Sunday. Now, this will make children and their parents supervise and sell there, so it's more comfortable. This is what I want make it happen," he said, quoted by Antara.
The mayor, who is familiarly called Cak Eri Cahyadi, emphasized that the city government's commitment to making Surabaya a child-friendly city must provide services in every area for children and women.
"So the comfort for children and women is what I create, I don't see Surabaya as a child-friendly city or not. Whatever it is, I want to build Surabaya with my heart," said Cak Eri.
Therefore, Eri wants to change the perspective of its citizens by starting with the city government ASN. Changing the mindset that Eri meant was to determine the data in each RT that was systemized into one between the City Government and the Great Surabaya Cadres (KSH).
"Supposedly, when registering a house, it's not just the cadres who walk, but it must be together with the lurah, sub-district and puskesmas officers. So I said, later in August there will be Surabaya Community Integrated Data (DTMS), because building the city I can't do it alone," he said.
After going through various surveys and assessments, the City of Surabaya received the highest score from other cities/regencies from the PPPA Ministry, namely with 912 points. This means, with these points, Surabaya is very worthy of being called a Child Friendly City in Indonesia and received an award on National Children's Day. 2022.
