Ryan Garcia Asked To Sacrifice First If He Wants To Meet Boxer Promoted By Floyd Mayweather Jr

JAKARTA - Floyd Mayweather Jr has asked Ryan Garcia to make sacrifices if he wants to fight Gervonta Davis. Mayweather wants the fight to be held at lightweight.

The 23-year-old Garcia has shown a sharp rise in his career after winning the match against Javier Fortuna last weekend. The American fighter knocked his opponent down three times en route to his 23rd career victory.

After winning that battle, Garcia already had his next target. He wants to face fellow boxer from the United States, Gervonta Davis, who holds the WBA lightweight title.

However, there were conditions that Garcia had to fulfill. Floyd Mayweather as the promoter of Davis, emphasized that the fight must take place at lightweight.

"The main man in boxing right now is the one under me, Gervonta 'Tank' Davis," Mayweather told Fighthype, as quoted by the Daily Star.

“He (Garcia) is going to fight Tanks and all he wants is 'I want to fight Tanks; I don't care if it's the biggest fight."

With Garcia's desire to fight Davis, Mayweather said the opposing side had to make sacrifices so that this fight could be held at lightweight.

"Okay, you want to fight Tanks. In boxing, we make sacrifices. If you want to fight Tanks at lightweight, we can make it happen before the end of the year," Mayweather said.

Mayweather doesn't seem to know that Garcia has moved up to light welterweight. But he could see no reason why the flashy American boxer couldn't drop the class.

In fact, if you want this fight to continue, Garcia must be able to sacrifice by cutting his weight

"He's young, he's not yet 30. When you get older, the weight settles down, and then it's like, 'Okay, I can't put on any more weight.' But he's still young, and he has to make sacrifices."
