Papuan Senator Yorrys Raweyai: KKB Is Splitting Unity And Unity Of OAP In NKRI

JAKARTA - A member of the DPD RI from Papua, Yorrys Raweyai, said that the action of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) which killed dozens of residents in Nogolait Village, Kenyam District, Nduga Regency, Papua, on Saturday, July 16, added to the list of violent incidents in Indonesia's easternmost region. .

Yorrys suspects that the KKB actions that focus on conflict areas in Papua are not only targeting Papuan Orang Asli (OAP), but also the general public who have been making a living as workers or as settlers with various other livelihoods.

“There is an impression that KKB is carrying out terror by targeting residents who are not only OAP, but also the general public. Including migrants who are living and earning a living in Papua”, said Yorrys in a discussion entitled 'The Papuan KKB is back in action, where is the State's Presence?,' at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 20.

The chairman of the MPR for Papua, Yorrys Raweyai, stated that the KKB action led by Egianus Kogoya was very disturbing and threatened the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia.

"In the midst of the efforts of the government and the people of Papua in developing Papua through Otusus Volume II, Egianus Kogoya and his members are clouding the new order that they want to build together," said Yorrys.

In fact, Yorrys suspects that the KKB is dividing people's lives which are gradually becoming harmonious in Papua. According to him, the social synergy between the general public and indigenous Papuans (OAP) will be torn apart with the aim of building an atmosphere of hatred and enmity among the nation's children.

This, said Yorrys, is part of the signs of resistance and rejection of various positive government policies that are starting to have a good impact on the Papuan people.

"I suspect that the KKB actions are dividing the unity and integrity of the Papuan people within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Without firm action from the government, the social-society synergy that has existed so far will shrink and may turn into hatred and hostility between fellow citizens," said Yorrys.

Yorrys explained that the incident in Nduga was not the first time. Not to mention, there are other sporadic actions. Therefore, the Chairman of Committee II DPD RI asked the government through the competent authorities to seriously and consistently suppress KKB to its roots.

According to Yorrys, this government step is urgent to take in order to maintain a conducive situation in the Land of Papua, and to ensure that the acceleration of change through a series of policies as a derivative of Otsus Volume II can take place properly.

"The government through the competent authorities must take measured and planned steps that are able to restore the Papuan public's trust and ensure a safe and conducive life order in responding to terror after terror perpetrated by the KKB," said Yorrys.
