South Korean Industry Excitement Wants To Enter RI, Sri Mulyani Gives Terms Must Be Green
JAKARTA – Indonesia continues to show attractiveness to investors who want to invest their capital in the country. Recently, an investment offer came from an East Asian country, South Korea, which expressed interest in doing business in Indonesia.
This was revealed when Finance Minister Sri Mulyani met with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of South Korea Choo Kyung-ho last weekend after the Third G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (3rd FMCBG) agenda in Bali.
It is said that many Korean businessmen are interested in collaborating in the automotive, steel, and chemical industries. Responding to this, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani welcomed this intention.
"The plan for the transformation of the energy sector and cleaner manufacturing (green energy and green industry) will widen opportunities for collaboration in these fields", she said in a press statement on Monday, July 18.
According to the Minister of Finance, the potential for economic cooperation is still wide open in Indonesia considering that the government is still trying to enlarge the economic structure to realize the ideals of being a high-capita income country (advanced).
"Currently Indonesia is carrying out a green energy transformation which also provides great opportunities for South Korean companies, especially in the manufacturing sector such as the electric car industry", she said.

On that occasion, Deputy Choo, who also serves as Minister of Finance of South Korea, expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's leadership as G20 President because it was considered capable of maintaining the integrity of the Group of 20 organization in the midst of global political tensions that have not subsided.
Choo also supports RI for strategic initiatives in the finance track sector with the establishment of the Financial Intermediary Fund (FIF).
Like a tit for tat, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani congratulated the new South Korean government and believed that this could open up many opportunities for stronger bilateral cooperation.
“Not only business-to-business, Indonesia and Korea also have close people-to-people relations. One of them is through K-pop culture, which is very popular in Indonesia so that Korea has a good image in the eyes of the Indonesian people", closed the Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani.
