Ditpolair Polda East Java Reveals Smuggling Of 48 Thousand Lobster Seeds
SURABAYA - The Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the East Java Police revealed two suspects with the initials AW and DMJ. This is because the two of them smuggled 48 thousand lobster seeds to Jakarta and Batam.
"These two suspects are residents of Tulungagung, and both have distributed lobster seeds many times," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police Kombes Dirmanto, Thursday, July 14.
The two suspects were arrested at the entrance to the Madiun KM 600 toll road at 03.00 WIB, Wednesday, July 6, 2022. From the hands of the perpetrators, the police found packaging in a plastic bag filled with oxygen, placed in a large cardboard and Styrofoam.
"Illegal fishing without a permit brings, transports and then distributes 6 thousand pearl lobster seeds and 42 thousand sand types. The total loss for the country is 10 billion," he said.
Meanwhile, Dirpolairud Polda Jatim, Kombes Puji H Wibowo, said the two suspects admitted that they had smuggled lobster seeds three times. A total of about 101 thousand lobster seeds, with state losses reaching Rp. 20 billion. "This suspect can get a profit of Rp. 24 million," he said.
According to Puji, the two suspects are illegal fishing networks, especially lobster smuggling syndicates in East Java, Jakarta, West Java, Banten and Batam. According to him, the lobster seeds will be brought to Jakarta and Batam.
"It is not easy for us to uncover this network, because the perpetrators are neat. We must first gather information from the community who informs our task force team. In the coastal area of Tulungagung, Trenggalek," he said.
The evidence that was secured was approximately 48,000 clear lobster seeds, consisting of 42,000 sand and 6,000 pearls, three cellphones and one car. Both were charged with Article 92 in conjunction with Article 26 paragraph (1) of Law no. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation in conjunction with Law no. 45 of 2009 concerning Amendments to Law no. 31 of 2004 concerning FisheriesJo Law no. 31 of 2004 concerning Fisheries in conjunction with Article 56 of the Criminal Code.
"Article 92 The maximum penalty is eight years in prison, and a maximum fine of Rp. 1.5 billion," he said.
