Back To Black Film That Tells The Story Of Amy Winehousen To Be Directed By Fifty Shades Of Grey

JAKARTA - The film about the late British singer Amy Winehouse entitled Back to Black is being worked on by director Sam Taylor-Johnson who previously made Fifty Shades of Grey. The film will explore the life and music of the six-time Grammy winner who died of alcohol poisoning at his London home on July 23, 2011.

Winehouse, who struggled with alcohol and drug problems throughout his career, died aged 27.

"Studiocanal is getting ready to make Back to Black. A project is underway with Sam Taylor-Johnson who will direct a film about the life and music of Amy Winehouse," Studiocanal said.

Sam Taylor-Johnson is best known for directing the first film Fifty Shades of Grey, adaptations of the best-selling book trilogy, as well as the drama A Million Little Pieces, and episodes of the television series Gypsy and Solos.

The death of Amy Winehouse, considered one of the most talented singers of her generation, shocked the music world.

Quoted from ANTARA, several documentaries about Winehouse have been made, the most recent being narrated by his mother and broadcast on the BBC in 2021 as the 10th anniversary of the death of the "Rehab" singer.

The 2015 AMY documentary won director Asif Kapadia an Oscar, although at the time Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse, called the documentary misleading and said the family wanted nothing to do with the film.

Deadline said the search for the actor who played Amy Winehouse will be carried out in the coming weeks.
