Divorce Cases At OKU Sumsel As Of July 2022 Reached 300, Majority Triggered By Economic Problems And Third Persons

PALEMBANG - The divorce case handled by the Baturaja Religious Court, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra, was dominated by economic factors.

The chairman of the Baturaja Religious Court, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), Zulkifli explained, this year or until the early July 2022 period, his party recorded as many as 300 divorce cases, mostly due to economic factors.

"There is also gambling that the husband does not provide for his wife," he said in Baturaja, Antara, Wednesday, July 13.

According to him, the number of divorce cases is relatively high compared to the previous year in the same period there were more than 310 cases with a total of 738 divorce cases by the end of 2021.

Most of the divorce cases were caused by economic factors, the presence of a third person and the occurrence of domestic violence (KDRT).

However, from the number of cases handled, there were several cases that were successfully mediated so that married couples who filed for divorce could reconcile.

According to him, in handling divorce cases, his party tries as much as possible to mediate husband and wife to make peace so that they can continue the ark of a more harmonious household.

"Because divorce has a bad impact on children, we are doing our best to mediate so they can reconcile," he said.
