Jokowi Recalls The Hardness Of Being An Entrepreneur: Manage Permits You Have To Pay!
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) recalled the tough experience he had as an entrepreneur.
This is because it was difficult for him to have a business license when he started his business in the 80s.
This was conveyed by Jokowi during the granting of a Business Identification Number (NIB) to individual Micro and Small Enterprises (UMK) in 2022, in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 13.
"In the beginning, I tried, the biggest difficulty I experienced was not having a business license, that was in 1988-1989," said Jokowi.
Jokowi admitted that at that time he did not access loans from banks because he did not have an NIB.
Not only that, he also has to spend just to take care of permits. According to him, this is very burdensome at that time.
"I don't have a business license, so I can't access banking, I can't borrow from a bank because I don't have a business license. If I applied for a license, I had to pay and it was very difficult for me at that time," he said.
Because of these difficulties, Jokowi admitted that he had not had a business license for many years. In fact, he said, NIB is very important for entrepreneurs.
"So for years I couldn't have the SIUPP TDP at that time, which was very much needed by our micro and small entrepreneurs," he said.
Therefore, Jokowi emphasized that licensing matters are very important for MSME actors. Jokowi also appreciated the presence of online single submission or OSS which was a breakthrough in the business licensing system.
Furthermore, Jokowi admitted that he had checked the work of the system. He admitted, with OSS NIB applications were quickly processed.
However, he will check again whether the service is still as fast as he tried the first time.
"The name of this permit is very important, I checked at that time, when it was OSS, was it true that the name was NIB, the registration number was quick if you wanted to apply, at that time I saw it quickly. But I want to check again whether it's fast so far," he said.
