Eid Al-Adha, Central Jakarta Police Falls 750 Personnel

JAKARTA - Central Jakarta Metro Police have alerted 450 Eid security personnel in the Central Jakarta area. Officers will be deployed at a number of points, especially at the Istiqlal Mosque.

"From Central Jakarta, we will deploy as many as 450 personnel, especially at the Istiqlal Mosque on Sunday," Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Komarudin told reporters, Friday, July 8.

In addition, approximately 300 personnel from the Polda Metro Jaya will participate in securing Eid al-Adha. Kombes Komarudin said his party had also established a security post.

"Currently, we have established a security post there. Then from the Regional Police, 2 companies or 3 companies of personnel will be deployed there, around 300 personnel will assist the Central Jakarta Police to carry out security activities," he said.

Kombes Komarudin also said that later the Eid prayer would take place at the mosque and in the open field. He said his party was ready to carry out security.

"Then for securing the Eid prayer, there are those who carry out it at the mosque who carry out it in the open field. This also requires security from us to help smooth Eid prayers," he said.

Furthermore, Komarudin said that in addition to securing Eid prayers, the police would secure the procession of slaughtering sacrificial animals. He appealed to residents not to crowd at the time of the distribution of meat.

"Then, there will also be security for the procession of slaughtering sacrificial animals which is temporarily monitored at several points, including the distribution of sacrificial meat which may later be crowded with the community," he continued.

"We also appeal to the sacrificial committee for the distribution method to be arranged in such a way that it is hoped that there will not be too many crowds," he added.
