Delivering Zelensky's Message To Putin, President Jokowi Expresses Readiness To Build A Communication Bridge Between The Two Leaders
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed a message from President Volodymyr Zelensky to President Vladimir Putin, expressing his readiness to be a link between the two leaders, and reiterating the importance of a peaceful resolution of the conflicts that occurred, during a meeting in the Kremlin, Moscow, Thursday.
Launching the Kremlin.ru website, President Jokowi said that the issue of peace and humanity has always been a priority for Indonesia's foreign policy. He explained that the Indonesian constitution demands that they always try to contribute to world peace.
"It is in this context that I visited Kyiv and now Moscow," said President Jokowi.
As I said in Kyiv, he continued, although the current situation is still very difficult, I still say it is important to promote a peaceful settlement, as well as open dialogue.
"I conveyed a message from President Zelensky to President Putin and expressed my readiness to establish communication between the two leaders," said President Jokowi.
President Jokowi underlined that Indonesia has no interest, except that Indonesia wants the war to end soon and the food, fertilizer and energy supply chains need to be restored immediately, as they affect the lives of hundreds of millions and even billions of people.
"I call on all world leaders to revive the spirit of multilateralism, the spirit of peace and cooperation. Only with this spirit can peace be achieved," concluded President Jokowi.
It is known that President Jokowi arrived in Russia, Thursday, June 30, 2022, aboard the Garuda Indonesia GIA-1 aircraft which landed at Vnukovo II Airport at around 11.00 local time. The day before, Jokowi had just met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Maryinsky Palace, Kyiv.
