Batam Needs 2,000 Cows Ahead Of Eid Al-Adha 2022
BATAM - The Food and Agriculture Security Service (DKPP) noted that Batam City's need for cattle ahead of the 2022 Eid al-Adha celebration reached 2,000 heads.
"For the need for 2,000 livestock, it is enough, if you can enter the third shipment. But if you can't enter the third, yes, less, but not much," said Head of Batam City DKPP Mardanis in Batam, Riau Islands, as quoted from Antara, Monday 27 June.
Until now, Mardanis said Batam City had twice increased the supply of cattle sent from Central Lampung.
"A total of 318 livestock animals were sent first and have entered quarantine in Batam and have been distributed to several sub-districts. The second includes 494 livestock and they are still being monitored by quarantine, they cannot go anywhere," he said.

The supply of cattle is also still taken from Central Lampung, because currently the quarantine only allows the city of Batam to take livestock from there.
"Because Lampung is only two cities affected, but Central Lampung is sterile. Hopefully, no one will be affected there, if any, the rules will change again," he said.
As for the problem of Mouth and Nail Disease (FMD), Mardanis said that recently his party found the symptoms of an FMD outbreak in some cattle.
"It's just a suspect, there are clinical signs, but we can't tell you right now. It means that later if we know that we have contracted FMD or not, we can only publish it. The symptoms are there, but it has not been confirmed positive for FMD," he said
