Dear Parents, Learning From Findings In Palu, Husband And Wife Disputes Trigger Children To Become Homeless

SULTENG - Palu City Government is paying close attention to the presence of homeless people and beggars or sprawl which are often considered as urban social problems.

Palu City Secretary Irmayanti Pettalolo said the role of family members, including parents, was very important in responding to this. He said that the main factor causing children to live on the streets to fulfill their needs by singing is the family.

"They [children] are flat because of the stress that their parents are fighting and unable to fulfill their daily needs. Children are flat because they want to find fun outside the home and make money," said Irmayanti in Central Sulawesi (Sulteng), Thursday, June 23.

Irma revealed that the findings were obtained by the Palu City Government from the results of the recognition of flattened children who had been brought in order and given guidance by the Palu City Social Service (Dinsos).

Therefore, Irma asked parents in Palu City to further improve parenting for children, especially to provide them with adequate education and maintain harmony in the household so that children are not stressed, not depressed and do not choose to be flat.

"Parents in their household must strengthen and apply family values to prevent their children from going to the streets and choosing to be flat," he said.

Irma added, in dealing with flats, the Palu City Government prioritizes preventive handling, namely by controlling them when begging or wandering the streets.

After that, continued Irma, the sprawl were taken to a halfway house managed by the Palu Social Service Office. They, according to Antara's report, were given coaching and skills training so that their skills could be used to earn a living without begging and becoming homeless.

"If the homeless people come from outside Palu, then we coordinate with the local government from which they are homeless. As for the homeless people who are Palu residents, we will provide guidance, social assistance and skills training to improve their welfare," he said.
