Kevin/Marcus Absent In Three Southeast Asian Tournaments, Herry IP: If You Force To Play, Your Opponents Might Get Beaten Up
JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon withdrew from three Southeast Asian tournaments. The Minions will certainly miss the Malaysia Open, Malaysia Masters and Singapore Open tournaments.
PBSI's men's doubles coach, Herry Iman Pierngadi, said Marcus' condition was not yet fully fit. That is the main reason this decision was taken.
The short time lag to prepare is also another point for this decision. He considered, the time of a week is not an ideal thing to prepare for the three tournaments.
"It's true, we pulled the Minions from three tournaments in the Malaysia Open, Malaysia Masters and Singapore Open," said Herry in a PBSI release.
"Marcus has not recovered from a post-operative injury to his left heel. His movements on the field are not as normal as before," continued the coach who is familiarly called Herry IP.
With conditions that are not yet prime, sending Kevin/Marcus to the three tournaments will only backfire. The Minions could be the butt of opponents. In addition, the position of Kevin/Marcus who has a superior status will also bear high expectations from the community. If forced and lost, this men's doubles will obviously be under greater pressure from fans.
"If the preparation is not good and they are forced to go to three tournaments, the Minions might be beaten by the opponent," he explained.
"Understandably, the competition is very tight now. This is what I did not expect. If you have lost, the community will also be excited," he said.
