Officially Completes All Tunnels, Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Rail Project Enters Elevated Track And Subgrade Construction

JAKARTA - A total of 13 tunnels in the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) project have been successfully penetrated. The last tunnel penetrated was tunnel 2 in Jatiluhur, Purwakarta on June 17, 2022.

Previously, on April 6, 2022, tunnel 4 in Sukatani District, Purwakarta Regency was successfully penetrated. Likewise, tunnel 6 as the longest tunnel in the KCJB area was successfully penetrated in the same month.

"Thanks to the cooperation and coordination with all parties, all tunnels in the KCJB project were successfully penetrated. Tunnel 2 is the last tunnel of 13 tunnels in KCJB that was successfully penetrated," said President Director of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC) Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi in a statement to the media, Tuesday, June 21.

During the construction of this tunnel, Dwiyana explained that a lot of technology transfers took place, including the use of new methods. Dwiyana gave an example in tunnel 1 for example, the excavation process used a giant Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) with a diameter of 13.23 meters and a length of 102.3 meters.

The drilling machine or TBM used in tunnel 1 is the largest drilling machine for tunnel makers in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The use of this tool is also recorded at the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) as the Largest Drilling Machine Tunnel Maker in Indonesia.

Then in tunnel 2, there was a collaborative process between domestic and foreign experts to deal with extreme clayshale problems. In the collaboration that was developed, technology transfer was created and finally resulted in methods for handling extreme clayshale areas such as surface getting and the excavation method from three benches (three layers) to double sidewall (nine layers).

The solution to this extreme clayshale problem finally solved the problem and tunnel 2 excavation was completed.

The passage of the entire tunnel is one of the progress in the KCJB project. This is in line with the spirit of accelerated development carried out in the KCJB project.

After the entire tunnel is through, the other construction focus is the elevated track and subgrade. These two developments are also the focus of accelerated development.

"We are trying as much as possible so that development and operational targets can be realized according to what has been set. Hopefully everything goes according to the plan that has been set," he concluded.
