US Continues To Send Weapons Supplies To Kyiv, Foreign Minister Lavrov Says Will Not Make Russia Obey Washington Rules
JAKARTA - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the United States would not be able to deprive Russia of its right to its own voice in international affairs and force it to comply with the rules created by Washington by supplying Ukraine with weapons.
This was said by Foreign Minister Lavrov in an interview with the Rossiya 1 Sunday television channel. When asked about what the United States wants to achieve by sending additional weapons to Ukraine, Foreign Minister Lavrov said Washington had stated this goal for a long time.
"They achieved what they announced a long time ago, that Russia must know its place, Russia has no right to speak for itself in international affairs, Russia must obey the rules created by the United States. That's all," Foreign Minister Lavrov was quoted as saying by TASS June 20.
"I think they understand very well that they will not succeed," said Foreign Minister Lavrov.
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said pumping the Kyiv Government with US-made weapons was a way to direct a military confrontation between the two largest nuclear superpowers, which was fraught with "unpredictable consequences".
Russian diplomats called the United States' plan to increase the number of artillery pieces sent to Ukraine "very concerning" and said Washington had no intention of seeking a peaceful solution.
"The fact that a high-ranking Pentagon official saw the possibility of expanding the supply of long-range systems causes extreme concern," Antonov said.
"This statement can be seen as Washington's intention to move towards further escalation. It just confirms, America has no intention of seeing a peaceful solution," he continued.

"No wonder the official's statement was made ahead of another meeting of the US and its allies to discuss Ukraine's military support. Apparently, this is the government's way of making its comrades believe that there is no alternative but to supply the Kiev regime with more weapons," Antonov added.
It is known, last week US President Joe Biden re-announced arms assistance to Ukraine. The value this time reached 1 billion US dollars or approximately IDR 14.695.100.000.000 which includes anti-ship rocket systems, artillery rockets, howitzers, and ammunition.
