BMKG Installs PDS To Measure Natural Frequency Near Abrasion Locations On Amurang Beach, North Sulawesi

SELATAN MINAHAS - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) will install a portable digital seismometer (PDS) to measure the natural frequency or dominant period near the Amurang beach abrasion location, South Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi.

"Hundreds of BMKG equipment are distributed throughout the North Sulawesi region," said BMKG Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto as quoted by Antara, Saturday, June 18.

One of the tools installed is the Automatic Weather Observation (AWS) equipment which has been operating for a long time and is installed in the front yard of the South Minahasa Regent's Office.

Guswanto added that his team had also brought several portable automatic weather observation equipment (PAWS) so that they could be installed at the location under review, including the installation of PDS equipment.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) visited the Amurang coastal abrasion disaster site, South Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, on Friday 17 June.

After holding a coordination meeting at the South Minahasa Regent's Office, the group conducted a survey at the abrasion site and visited the refugee post that had been prepared by the local government.

Deputy for Meteorology of BMKG, Guswanto, accompanied by the Head of the BMKG Maritime Meteorology Center, Eko Prasetyo, during his visit with the Head of BNPB and his entourage were received by the Regent of South Minahasa, Regional Secretary of North Sulawesi Province, officials of the Regional Secretary of South Minahasa Regency, Head of BPBD Executive, South Minahasa Police Chief, Dandim and other relevant stakeholders.

The Amurang coastal abrasion disaster on Wednesday, June 15, knocked down people's houses, lodgings, eroded roads and bridges.
