Stabilize Prices In The Market, National Food Agency Brings Chili From South Sulawesi To Jakarta
JAKARTA – In the midst of the continued soaring price of chili in Jakarta, various efforts have been made by the government. Even the National Food Agency (NFA) took the initiative to distribute chilies from South Sulawesi to Jakarta as an effort to increase supply in order to lower prices so that they return to normal.
"I directly inspected the arrival of chilies from South Sulawesi at the Kramat Jati Main Market, Jakarta (PIKJ), in the initial two days, 1.8 tons and 1.7 tons were supplied, then they will continue to be supplied until prices return to normal," said the Head of the Agency. National Food, Arief Prasetyo Adi in his statement quoted by Antara in Jakarta, Saturday, June 18.
According to him, the addition of chili availability is effective in intervening in chili prices at the market level. Based on price report data at the Kramat Jati Main Market, the price of red cayenne pepper on Thursday, June 16, fell by around Rp. 10 thousand from the previous day to Rp. 75 thousand per kg.
"The chili price has started to move down and we will keep the price stable. This is the initial stage of facilitation of chili logistics, the next logistical facilitation we will continue to suppress chili prices to around Rp. 60,000 per kg, "said Arief.
Previously, Arief said as an effort to stabilize food commodity prices, especially red chili peppers, the National Food Agency would facilitate the distribution of red chili peppers from surplus areas to the Main Market in Greater Jakarta.
Apart from chili peppers, NFA will also facilitate the distribution of shallots from farmers from the districts of Bima and Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara to be sent to wholesale markets in Greater Jakarta.
The distribution effort as an effort to stabilize chili and onion commodity prices is carried out in synergy with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Agriculture Service, and the provincial and district Food Offices.
