Head of the TNI Health Center: Omicron BA.4 And BA.5 Do Not Cause Severe Symptoms, No Need To Fear

JAKARTA - Head of the TNI (Indonesian Army) Health Center, Major General TNI dr. Budiman, said that the latest variants of COVID-19 Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 are not dangerous so people do not need to panic and be afraid.

"If we read, (variants) BA.4 and BA.5 itself are actually one of the variants that are not significant, meaning that they do not cause severe symptoms. So, we don't need to be afraid", Budiman told reporters at Tower 1 Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 14.

Although it does not cause severe symptoms, the Wisma Atlet of COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) Kemayoran still ensures the availability of facilities and infrastructure to respond to the situation of increasing COVID-19 cases.

This preparation is a form of alertness at the Wisma Atlet RSDC Kemayoran in responding to an increase in cases that may occur in the future.

As for several facilities and infrastructure that are confirmed to be ready, continued Budiman, including medical equipment, medicines, oxygen, personal protective equipment or PPE, as well as the availability of 3,801 beds.

"All the infrastructure is available. Other supports, for example, oxygen, are plentiful. In fact, oxygen is hardly needed for this variant", he said.

In addition to facilities and infrastructure, the Wisma Atlet RSDC also ensures the availability of human resources (HR) to be at the forefront of handling COVID-19.

"Alhamdulillah, human resources are always supported. We calculate with workload analysis. For example, for 100 patients, how many specialists are needed, how many nurses, etc.; there are calculations from each profession", he added.

Therefore, regarding the availability of human resources, the Wisma Atlet RSDC coordinates with all Penta-helix levels, such as the government, academics, private parties, the community or community, and the media.

"The coordination is very good between Penta-helix. So we also trust and control each other, are accountable and auditable, that all of our assets are entrusted to us from the people", he concluded.
