Extreme Weather, Jambi Provincial Government Reminds People To Beware Of Dengue Fever
JAMBI - The Jambi Provincial Health Office warned the public to be aware of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) given the uncertain weather conditions.
"The weather is currently extreme with heat and sudden rain so that puddles of water in certain places become a potential breeding ground for mosquitoes, if not cleaned immediately", said Head of Disease Control Prevention (P2P) of the Jambi Provincial Health Office, Eva Susanti, in Jambi, Friday, June 10.
The Jambi Provincial Health Office appealed to the public to maintain a clean environment and implement a Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS). This action is carried out as an effort to prevent the spread of dengue fever or other diseases.
She explained that effective control is to reduce mosquito larvae in puddles by keeping the environment clean and destroying used goods so that they do not become mosquito breeding grounds, because fogging cannot be provided continuously by the health department.
"Fogging cannot be given continuously because it is resistant, therefore an effective step is to destroy places that have the potential to become mosquito breeding sites", she said, quoted by Antara.
According to her, dengue is a year-round disease that needs to be watched out for because the disease is related to people's behavior.
Although there has not been an increase in the trend of dengue fever in Jambi Province at this time, the public is asked not to be careless.
Through PHBS, it is hoped that the transmission of DHF can be suppressed, because if there are already people who are infected with DHF, they need special handling to prevent the transmission of DHF.
"Therefore, people should really implement PHBS, this disease is due to an unclean environment and an unhealthy lifestyle that will trigger the development of disease, it can even cause other diseases", said Eva Susanti.
