MUI Condemns Indian Politicians Insulting Prophet Muhammad SAW

LEBAK - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Lebak Regency strongly condemned two Indian politicians who insulted the Prophet Muhammad.

"Of course we as Muslims object to the insult to the Prophet who is loved by Muslims," said Deputy Chair of the Lebak Regency MUI KH Achmad Hudori in Lebak, Banten Province, Tuesday, June 7.

The Lebak Regency MUI is certainly very concerned about the statement by two Indian politicians from the ruling party that insulted the Prophet Muhammad.

The insult is certainly not justified by any religion. The two politicians, he continued, should think about their own beliefs and not tarnish other religions.

According to him, all religions around the world for their adherents are true and good. However, if it offends other religions, it can certainly worsen the bad atmosphere between one religion and another.

The insults conveyed by the two Indian officials certainly offended Islam throughout the world and not only in India. In fact, Muslim-majority countries, including Indonesia, strongly condemned the act of insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

Therefore, the Lebak Regency MUI has urged the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Government of India to take firm action against politicians who insult the Prophet Muhammad. Currently, he said, diplomatic relations between Indonesia and India are very good. "We must not let our good relations be tarnished by politicians who insult the Prophet," said KH Achmad Hudori.
