Lawyer Denies Bryan Yoga Fleeed Due To Riots Lead To Persecution At Holywings Jogja

JAKARTA - The attorney for the alleged abuse victim at Holywings Jogja, Sleman, Duke Arie Widagdo, denied that his client Bryan Yoga Kusuma was said to have tried to escape the Sleman Police, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).

"Our client ran (from the Sleman Police office) asking for help, not running away for committing a crime," said Duke Arie Widagdo during a press conference in Yogyakarta, reported by Antara, Monday, June 6.

Arie regretted the information that his client was about to run away from the Sleman Police, even though his goal was to avoid being beaten.

"That's why he had bruises on his face. He ran for help, jumped the fence, then was hit, then he was unconscious. This is the testimony of the witnesses and Bryan himself," he said.

He added that Bryan Yoga Kusuma had a wound on his face with a swollen position in the eye.

In addition, he continued, there were also injuries to the body and knees due to being dragged. Meanwhile, the head wound was caused by the perpetrator 'pinning' and hitting him.

Arie said that while at Holywings Jogja, his client was abused by being dragged and beaten, causing many injuries.

When his client was asked to resolve the problem amicably at the Sleman Police, according to him, he actually got violent.

"Until there (Sleman Police) were persecuted. Information from our client was that members of the Sleman Police were beaten. We are still investigating this because the information is like that," he said.

Previously, Sleman Police Chief Grand Commissioner Adjutant Achmad Imam Rifai explained based on the statements of two witnesses, that the case that occurred on Saturday (4/6) at 01.30 WIB was triggered by an argument between Kusuma and visitors to Holywings Jogja, which led to a fight.

Knowing the incident, he said, security officers then took Bryan Yoga Kusuma to the Sleman Police. He was then taken to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sleman Police along with the witness.

"When secured the victim fled towards the exit of the Sleman Police and was hit by a passing car," said Imam Rifai.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the DIY Police, Police Commissioner Yuliyanto, said that the DIY Police were processing the law on two police officers with the initials AR and LV who work daily at the Sleman Police Satreskrim because they were suspected of being involved in the abuse case.

He said that in the near future the two members suspected of being involved would undergo a trial for violating the Police's Code of Professional Ethics.

"It was temporarily concluded that there were violations committed by two members," said Yuliyanto.

The conclusion, he said, was after the Yogyakarta Regional Police's Internal Security Sub-Directorate examined 17 witnesses consisting of four civilians and 13 police officers.
